Active Isolated Stretching (AIS) is one of the methods most used by today’s athletes, massage therapists, personal/athletic trainers, and professionals. AIS allows the body to repair itself and also to prepare for daily activity. The AIS technique involves the method of holding each stretch for only two seconds. This method of stretching is also known to work with the body’s natural physiological makeup to improve circulation and increase the elasticity of muscle joints and fascia.

After 16 years practicing and teaching yoga and still suffered from chronic back pain. I didn’t accept that 4 surgeons said I needed a spinal fusion at L5/S1.
I took the advise of a good friend who recommended A.I.S.. I never imagined that after one session a whole new world would open up to me. After about six months of A.I.S. therapy I was well on my way to a complete recovery.
Not only that, but the idea of incorporating A.I.S. with my experience as a yoga teacher, I knew from the very first session that A.I.S. was the perfect fit for me. I have since trained with Aaron Mattes (the creator of AIS) and as a yoga teacher my experience and knowledge of postural alignment has helped me quickly adapt the protocols of AIS and become a more complete yoga therapist. AIS has helped reinforce my belief and has renewed my hope in the body’s ability to heal and recover from chronic pain.
